Afternoon Tea A Very English Custom!
Afternoon Tea has been enjoyed in England since the early 19th Century.
Afternoon Tea was introduced in England by Anna the 7th Duchess of Bedford. The Duchess would become hungry in the afternoon. Dinner was served fashionably late in her household at around 8 o’clock, leaving a long period between lunch and dinner. The solution for the Duchess was a pot of tea and a light snack taken to her room in the afternoon.
